a handmade mother's day

Today my cousins and I put together a brunch to celebrate the lovely women in our family that birthed, raised, and nurtured us. My grandmother, mother and aunt joined us as the guests of honor.

I put together these floral arrangements for decor and to later be gifts for these special ladies. For the arrangements I used a mix of florals from Trader Joe's, local florist EcoFlora, and clippings from the backyard. I arranged them in clear cylindrical vases that I collected yesterday at the thrift shop in varying sizes. I embellished the vases with a bit of jute wrapped around the center and arranged them as a center piece on the dining table.

For brunch we had a potluck of items including freshly baked muffins, french toast, vegetable frittata, applewood smoked bacon, fresh salad with strawberries, and crostinis with goat cheese from Blue Jacket Dairy and preserves from Black Radish Creamery. To top it all off, we had mimosas and peach bellini with fresh peaches from a family friend's farm.
