florals around the house | Farm Fresh Therapy.jpg

home: decorating with flowers

Every weekend I try to take the time out to pick up some florals to spruce up the house. There's just something about a fresh bouquet that makes me feel slightly spoiled and happy. The bright colors and fresh greenery instantly brighten up any space. I love incorporating the colors of seasonal bouquets in with vignettes or decor in my central living areas (where they are most often in sight). Flower delivery by BloomNation (a floral company working with local florists to showcase their handcrafted arrangements on their marketplace) wanted to know how I use flowers in my decor so I thought this would be the perfect time to share a little peak at some of our autumn vignettes around the house.

While I often source and arrange my own florals, I can say that there is nothing more I love than receiving a beautiful bouquet on a special holiday... or just because (yes Kiel this is meant for you!). I tend to keep lots of floral and greenery options on hand for styled shoots or blog props which allows me to grab a quick bunch to style the dining table or a staged shot.

I love using florals in living spaces where I know they will be enjoyed throughout the day. While some people love the appeal of a fresh bouquet on their nightstand, I feel as if I don't get to enjoy a lively bouquet there (mostly because I pretty much only do 1 activity in that room which involves my eyes being closed). While it's gotten much harder lately thanks to 10 month old grabby hands, I do try to keep a nice bouquet on the side or coffee table in both our family and living rooms.

In our dining room I tend to keep a nice medium sized colorful bouquet on the dining table (which I won't show you as we are currently eating at a plastic banquet table while Kiel makes our new one), but I leave space on the credenza side board so that we can easily move the bouquet off the table when eating and it can fit nicely into a vignette off to the side and out of the way of food (and again, grabby hands).

You can't go wrong with adding fresh greens or florals to any vignette or coffee table in any room. Flowers turn my home into my happy place and I can never get enough!
