A few weeks back I shared some inspiration for our kitchen makeover. After living with the yellow/ green wall color for the last 3 and a half years we were starting to get a bit tired of it. Our kitchen was starting to become a bit overcrowded and we just felt we needed a change. With the bright blue tile backsplash we felt a bit limited in terms of color options. We debated plain white but I was worried that it would make the backsplash look too bright. We started leaning towards a minty bluish green and settled on Lightest Sky by Pantone for Valspar. The color is wonderful- so bright and airy. It really opens up the small space so we continued the color from the kitchen into the mudroom.
After painting we did a big spring clean which included purging and simplifying in the kitchen. We had already mostly done this in our mudroom at the beginning of the year so the entire project went pretty quickly. We were able to get everything painted in just a day and then focused on some details such as replacing the old panty shelf with an industrial pipe shelf with barn wood (inspired by this) and painting the piping on the island to match. We also reorganized our dishes after purging quite a bit (believe it or not!). Our office is currently jam packed while we wait for it to get warm enough for garage sale season!
Kiel is still a bit skeptical when it comes to the new wall color but I love it. I also think that spring is the best time of year for refreshing a room. It is quite amazing what a simple coat of paint and a bit of cleaning can do! Now on to our bedroom renovation... (more to come next month)!
