I finally finished our stockings as one of our handmade holiday projects. It was my intent to make new ones last year but was unable to ever find the time. I am glad I waited because I really like how these stockings this year turned out (and my idea last year was a lot different). I am hoping to turn these into heirloom stockings and make a few more as our family grows.
To make these I used old thrifted sweaters and cut the stocking shape from the front and back of each. The stockings are lined with interior fabric and have another layer of fabric between the inside and outside layer for stability and in case you can see through the sweater. Each stocking has a ribbon loop for hanging and hand stitched vintage embellishments (vintage pins and stitched florals).
I am very happy with how they turned out. They look great and are the perfect size for our little fireplace (not pictured here- our mantle is currently getting a new paint job!).
Now to just find some great stuffers! Any suggestions on fun stocking stuffers?!
