home tour: mudroom

This week's room for our home tour is our mudroom.

Our mudroom is our main entrance to the home (our front door is rarely used as our drive way comes up the side of the house). The mudroom was one of the first renovations that we did in our home when we moved in. We started by bead boarding the ceiling and putting in farm house style lighting. Next we finished the built in, ripped out the flooring and placed 2 inch hex tile flooring. We finished up with a built in reclaimed wood desk that provides tons of space for office work and a catch all spot.

This closet area was open with folding doors on a track when we moved in. Shortly after we moved in we finished out the built in and finished it with bead board detail and matching trim.

We fitted the cabinet with vintage hooks and wire baskets sourced from various antique shows. As we have a very small bathroom, our mudroom and this cabinet serve as our primary storage area.
