I have been on the lookout for a walnut footed cake plate for a while now. There are some beautiful ones out there but I haven't quite had it in me yet to shell out for one since I already have a beautiful (and expensive) Jadite one and a great antique glass one I found for a score at the thrift store and we don't entertain all that often so the storage can be challenging sometimes.
But the other day when I saw these great midcentury style walnut candle holders for sale at Target I couldn't resist. A simple white plate (would have loved to find something ceramic but didn't have time before my grandmother's birthday the other day so this simple white thrifted plate had to do) + strong super glue or epoxy + your candle stick (bought or made) makes for the easiest and cheapest walnut footed candle holder you could DIY. See the easy how to in the photos below and happy making!
PS- This cake is from Costco, was $11 and was just as delicious as it looks. A single ranunculus head, a couple sprigs of eucalyptus (all from the cheapest Trader Joe's bouquets you could ever find) and you have a gourmet cake set up!
