serving tray revamp & $50 Everything But the House giveaway!

December is finally here and it's time to celebrate the holidays with great friends, family, and food! Oh and a great giveaway from Everything But the House! You may remember the post I wrote up about one of my first finds from them (these awesome midcentury planters I scored in a box lot for $20) back at the beginning of fall. Well shortly after that we found this great serving tray that was the perfect project to redo prior to baby m's shower. It was the perfect addition to our set up to hold extra party favors and activities for guests. Looking forward to pulling it out here shortly for the holidays as the perfect makeshift bar! Scroll down for more details on the revamp....

Andddd we along with the great folks at Everything But The House are giving away a $50 credit to be used at an upcoming sale!!! Use it to fill that flea market find void during the long cold winter until garage sale season comes again! And the best part is that you can shop their sales from the comfort of your warm and cozy couch- can't get much better than that.

So here are the giveaway details:

Simple Serving Tray Revamp Tutorial

To upcycle this old serving tray we used the following supplies:

-upholstery studs

-paint brush

1. We started by taking apart the original tray (including removing the straps) and cleaning it with a dust rag and warm water.

2. Next we painted the wooden legs with a few coats of a bright teal paint house paint (an old sample we had on hand). Cabinet paint or chalk paint would work well for this project too!

3. While the paint was drying we measured and cut strips of leather to replace the old straps that we removed. We measured based on how large of a tray we wanted to accommodate.

4. Lastly we used a few upholstery tacks and the hammer to attach the new leather straps to the top ends of the wood once the paint was dry. We attached in the same spots where the straps were previously.

Set up with a tray (or nice piece of rustic wood that can double as a tray) and set out drinks or favors for guests while entertaining. The best part is that the tray folds up for easy storage once guests leave!

We used ours last month for baby m's shower and it was the perfect place to display our shower favors and this chalkboard globe for notes!
